Adrift

How was everyone's Easter? Even if you don't celebrate it, I hope you used the super markets full of chocolate as a good excuse to indulge. I've only just realised I haven't had a single Easter Egg! Abominable. Better hit up the chocolate sales.

I went away on a cruise with my family for Easter this year, and if you've never been on one let me fill you in on a secret: They are basically all about eating food and you will come back fat. I'm not a big exerciser but I think when meals just merge into one long binge including everything from rump steak to waffles to apple strudel, some after vacay jogs are a good idea. Not that I'm complaining. I am definitely an appreciator of all foods. Except sea food. Which is odd, because yes, I know I was at sea.

In other news, I've been wanting to shoot this cape for a while. I have been pretty obsessed with it lately and have gotten very used to the question "what the hell are you wearing?". I am aware that it is not to everyone's taste, but since when is fashion about wearing the same thing as everybody else? The cape is from Sabo Skirt and if you are as in love with the print as I am, but not keen on rocking it over your shoulders, they also sell it in shorts and a dress

Happy Easter!

Tea

Alice McCall dress, Kookai clutch, vintage sunglasses, Novo shoes (similar)

I don't know if you've ever been to High Tea before, but if you haven't (and you live in Sydney) the Camellia Gardens Tea House is a good place to start. Not only is the tea fantastic, but the grounds are even better. I won't lie, it took me a little longer than socially acceptable to cull photos from this post. I asked my sister and apparently there is such a thing as too many pictures of garden paths, who knew?

I was at High Tea for a close friends 22nd birthday. And of course I wanted to celebrate with her, but I was also pretty excited to finally shoot this Alice McCall dress I bought last year. The entire collection is incredible, but my rather begrudging bank account and looming Europe trip forced me to pick just one piece. Now I just have to make sure that my ridiculously clumsy tendencies don't ruin the perfect white fabric.

Valentine

Vintage top, American Apparel skirt, Urban Outfitters handbag, Sports Girl round sunglasses, Rubi shoes, Heart Shaped Sunglasses are from a street vendor in Paris, but if you're not likely to go there any time soon and can't wait to get your hands on a pair I found them here

Yes, that is me, doing twirls and holding yellow flowers. But that's what Valentine's Day themed posts are all about, right? There's no other time of year I could hold a yellow flower and smile for no reason and not get mocked for it. (Even though I silently mocked myself as I uploaded it). But where would the world be without some seriously vintage looking instagram shots of girls holding flowers? I'm just doing my part.

Whether or not you have a date for Valentine's Day doesn't mean you shouldn't still dress up, put on your best love heart paraphernalia and dance in the rising tide. Or you know, something that sounds a little less lame, like drink tea. Or go shopping. It's the perfect excuse to wear that amazing outfit you put together last week that nobody saw because the only thing you ended up doing was watching TV and eating toast in your lounge room. (Don't pretend this hasn't happened to you... multiple times).

Personally, I had a great Valentine's Day, involving tea, final catch ups before long trips, Denzel Washington, candy striped cupcakes and beaches. What did you guys get up to?

Peplum

Topshop top & satchel, Dangerfield shorts, Rubi shoes, Sportsgirl sunglasses

There are two things about this post that are big no-no's in the Fashion Blogger Handbook. First problem, I bought these pants in the start of year sales (so they're no longer available), second problem, this shirt was brought back from Scotland for me as a gift in October (so now it is also unavailable). I KNOW I'M THE WORST, I SHOULD BE PLACED ON THE FASHION BLOGGER WALL OF SHAME AND NEVER BE SPOKEN OF AGAIN.

But seriously, sorry I can't link you the clothes, I probably should have photographed them sooner.
Problem was, these shorts are way too big for me (but they were the last pair left and I obviously wasn't going to say no to them) so I've been looking for the perfect top to wear them with that doesn't make me look like I just dropped a few kids. Why I didn't think of peplum earlier than this is beyond me. I was clearly too distracted by my new obsession with Girls (I know, I know it's so 12 months ago) to be thinking clearly about clothes.

I've worn this top in every other combination of outfit I could possibly think of (and it's perfect for work because I just pack a spare/longer skirt in my bag and throw it on and am totes office-ready) so it was only a matter of time before it got paired with the shorts anyway.

Anyway, I spent this day doing what I do best, spending money. Watch out for some amazing American Apparel goodness in weeks to come.

Blues

Target singlet, Forever New skirt, Rubi shoes

These photos were taken really quickly on the balcony of the apartment we were staying at in Melbourne. The sun was going down and the light was just incredible, I wish we'd had more time to play around with it.

But as it is, I still really love all these colours. This skirt was the second item I picked up at a Forever New sale. I never usually glance twice at that store and I'm starting to think I need to give it a bit more credit. Shouldn't be so quick to judge!

Also, just take a look at that view. My favourite part about Melbourne was sitting down with coffee and my Kindle in front of that view and reading.

Metallic

Topshop skirt (available at the Sydney store), Dotti shirt, London Rebel boots, Topshop satchel

On my trip to Melbourne I met a woman who told me how much she "loves a good short skirt" and whilst I agreed with her, I've never found one I loved until now. I am addicted to this skirt. I've been wanting to team a simple tee with a statement skirt for a while now and got so excited when I found this one. I bought this tee in 3 different colours, so it looks like I'm just going to have to start a statement skirt collection to go with them.

Broderie

Forever New Broderie Dress, Oroton bag (removable strap, I'm using it as a clutch - it's also on sale at the moment!), Hot Kiss shoes

So, as anyone who has me on instagram would know (sorryimnotsorry), I spent the last week in Melbourne. Seriously guys, if you’re into sales go to Melbourne for Boxing Day. If you didn’t go, you missed out and should start planning next years trip immediately.

Because I didn’t have my normal blogger-friendly photographer (Paigge Frankie) I had to ask my sister to help out. With some interesting results.

  • She is not a blogger and finds it endlessly hilarious that I take photos of myself and kept saying ‘now strike a pose’ in not-very-well-hidden mocking tone.
  • She though it was really funny to take more photos of my talking than looking at the camera (I tried to incorporate a few above for her entertainment)
  • I discovered that I am very particular about how my photos should/must be taken and am not very subtle/kind at delivering these requests.

All in all though, we made a pretty good team by the end of the week and had a system going. And she did manage to put up with my demands, so she does deserve a pretty huge thank you.

ALL THAT ASIDE, I am in love with this dress. Ith this dress.e does deserve a pretty huge thank you.
of the week and had a system going. And she did manage to put up with m’ve mentioned before how I’m 6ft tall. This usually gets responses such as “Oh my God! You should totally be a model” or “I’m so jealous, I need to wear heels everywhere!” But girls, let me share a few tibbits of crucial information about being a tall girl.

  1.  If you ever want to wear heels anywhere (ever) be prepared for every person you encounter to         comment on how you resemble a mammoth.
  2. It is very, very difficult to find any boys taller than you before you put the heels on. So if you’re out somewhere in heels, you can basically forget it.
  3.  Jeans will always, always, be too short for you.
  4. And last, and possibly the most annoying one of all, every skirt and dress ever made is going to be ridiculously short on you and make you look like a skank.

I love this dress because it is such a nice length on me. Please just ignore the fact that my skin is almost the same colour as the dress (it didn’t come in any other colours – you win some, you lose some).
Also ignore the state of my leg. I had a slight disagreement with an escalator. The escalator won.

I hope you all have an amazing NYE!
