Broderie

Forever New Broderie Dress, Oroton bag (removable strap, I'm using it as a clutch - it's also on sale at the moment!), Hot Kiss shoes

So, as anyone who has me on instagram would know (sorryimnotsorry), I spent the last week in Melbourne. Seriously guys, if you’re into sales go to Melbourne for Boxing Day. If you didn’t go, you missed out and should start planning next years trip immediately.

Because I didn’t have my normal blogger-friendly photographer (Paigge Frankie) I had to ask my sister to help out. With some interesting results.

  • She is not a blogger and finds it endlessly hilarious that I take photos of myself and kept saying ‘now strike a pose’ in not-very-well-hidden mocking tone.
  • She though it was really funny to take more photos of my talking than looking at the camera (I tried to incorporate a few above for her entertainment)
  • I discovered that I am very particular about how my photos should/must be taken and am not very subtle/kind at delivering these requests.

All in all though, we made a pretty good team by the end of the week and had a system going. And she did manage to put up with my demands, so she does deserve a pretty huge thank you.

ALL THAT ASIDE, I am in love with this dress. Ith this dress.e does deserve a pretty huge thank you.
of the week and had a system going. And she did manage to put up with m’ve mentioned before how I’m 6ft tall. This usually gets responses such as “Oh my God! You should totally be a model” or “I’m so jealous, I need to wear heels everywhere!” But girls, let me share a few tibbits of crucial information about being a tall girl.

  1.  If you ever want to wear heels anywhere (ever) be prepared for every person you encounter to         comment on how you resemble a mammoth.
  2. It is very, very difficult to find any boys taller than you before you put the heels on. So if you’re out somewhere in heels, you can basically forget it.
  3.  Jeans will always, always, be too short for you.
  4. And last, and possibly the most annoying one of all, every skirt and dress ever made is going to be ridiculously short on you and make you look like a skank.

I love this dress because it is such a nice length on me. Please just ignore the fact that my skin is almost the same colour as the dress (it didn’t come in any other colours – you win some, you lose some).
Also ignore the state of my leg. I had a slight disagreement with an escalator. The escalator won.

I hope you all have an amazing NYE!

Wishlist

These are all the things I need want need for Christmas. I have a few pairs of Jeffrey Campbell's, but since I am 6 feet tall and hardly ever wear heels I think a flat pair might be a good investment. Also the quilted leather reminds me of a Chanel handbag that I could wear on my feet. And how could that ever be a bad thing?
It's Chanel, so it cant't.

I also need these sunnies because I live in Australia and it's very sunny here. Justification enough for a $300 purchase? I think so.

And Alice McCall hardly needs to be explained. I mean come on. Look at it.
I'm going to Melbourne for Christmas so I'm hoping to pick this dress up in the Boxing Day sales. Hoping being the operative word.

And last but not least, a present which is actually affordable and sensible, the Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain collection. There's also another one which is basically lipstick in a texta which is incredible. I bought a couple this week and now I need all of them. Yes, need. The world will collapse inwards and everyone will die horrible burning deaths at the Earth's core if I don't get them. So, definitely justified.

What is on your wishlist this year??

Jacaranda

ASOS dress, Sports Girl sunglasses, Topshop jacket, Lovisa necklace, Rubi shoes

Yes, I am aware that my dress is crinkled. Thanks for noticing. I am in love with this dress (maybe because it reminds me of Thoroughly Modern Millie so much) but after an hour and a half of sitting in a car my amazing skills with an iron were all but forgotten.

Also, I chose to take my photos here because of the Jacaranda trees. I actually (get ready for an extremely unpopular opinion) really dislike Summer. And so Spring, by association (since it means Winter is over), usually gets a pretty bad rap from me. But not even I, hater of beloved seasons, can hate the blooming flowers and Jacaranda trees. I know they drop petals all over our cars and mess up our lawns, but they’re just so pretty. Good job, creator of the universe, good job. I can almost forgive you for the existence of cockroaches, mosquito's and Nicki Minaj when I see a Jacaranda tree.

I also bought this amazing army jacket that I picked up at the new Topshop store in Sydney! My little boycott against the hot weather. Have you guys checked out the store? 4 whole levels of bliss. (Yes, including the men's level, you’re lying if you say you've never bought a men's tee or singlet.) The prices are a bit higher than online, but no postage or wait time by your letter box!

My friend Paigge, from The Indigo Culture, and I went to Alexandria today to check out the My Catwalk sale. If you didn't go you really should get out some ice cream and have a good cry, because Jeffrey Campbell’s were $50 each and I got a gold python Bec & Bridge skirt for $39. You missed out. NEVER PAY FULL PRICE GUYS.

I’ll take pictures of my haul soon!

Cliff Side

Topshop top, Sabo Skirt shorts, Rubi shoes, Sports Girl sunglasses, Notting Hill markets hair piece. Colette necklace

Everybody prepare yourselves for a sickeningly cliché sentence, because sometimes I actually can’t believe how lucky I am to live in a place so beautiful. I know a lot of people are dying to get out of here, some to move, some just to travel and I am sometimes one of them. But I’d be lying if I said I didn't really love Australia. And I know it isn't customary for fashion bloggers to tag a bunch of landscape style shots onto outfit posts, but I just can’t help myself!

I went down to Thirroul with my friend Roisin today and we took these shots on a cliff side. That shot of feet was a bit of a freaky one to get, because they’re just hanging over rocks. Anything for the blog though, right? Roisin got a little bit more adventurous and may or may no have climbed a fence into an abandoned house in the name of photography. But I neither confirm nor deny that.

The most important thing about these photo, however, are the clothes! These shorts are my first clothing purchase from Sabo Skirt and I absolutely love them! They’re a tad on the short side (I'm on the hunt for a good pair of longer summer shorts if anyone knows of any?) but the colours are so lovely that I still adore them. And this top!!!! I’d been wanting it for a while and Roisin got it for me while she was in Europe. I'm a little worried the daisies might fall off so I'm going to sew over them to make them a bit more sturdy but other than that, it truly is the perfect spring top!

Lilac

Sports Girl dress, Rubi shoes, Topshop satchel, Glassons hat, Sports Girl sunglasses, Tiffany’s necklace

I don’t know if any of you are from Sans Souci but if you are, or if you’re from near there, you should check out this cafe called Bella Dee. It’s ridiculously good/sweet/bright and all those other things we want from cafe’s. I went there yesterday with my friend Paigge for a catch up and had a great time as always. The best part though, is the scenery. You walk 100 metres away from the cafe and suddenly you’re on the waterfront. Perfect for some outfit shots! Although we couldn’t pick a favourite backdrop and had to choose two. Let’s pretend it wasn’t because we were picky and just because I’m mixing things up.

By the way, I know I have very much conformed to the loafer flats trend, but I could not say no to these, I’m obsessed with this lilac colour. Can’t wait to get a pair of black high waisted jeans to pair them with.

On a slightly unrelated note, how much are you loving the Fashion Weeks right now? Not only are all my favourite bloggers covering them this year, but having new collections to drool over on Net A Porter is always fun too.

Stripes

ASOS tights, Top is from somewhere in the streets of Mykonos, Hat from Camden Markets, Sports Girl sunglasses & shoes, Tiffany & Co. necklace, SaboSkirt rings, Diva bracelet.

Had another cute lunch date with Matt again today. This time at a cute little park right near Darling Harbour that I miraculously had never noticed before. Some kind of Sydneyan I am. It was so hot today, but given that it's still technically winter I can't bring myself to not wear tights just in case the weather decides to do what it's supposed to do and become cold.

I found this top in a little designer studio on the streets of Mykonos and love it so much. I have a feeling I may actually be starting to wear the material out in places. But at least I'm getting my moneys worth!

Wonderland

American Apparel bodysuit & tights, Factorie skirt, SaboSkirt rings, Diva necklace & bracelet, Novo shoes (similar), vintage sunglasses.

I’m not going to lie, this outfit appeals to me because I feel like Alice from Alice in Wonderland when I wear it. I feel like I should be having tea with the Mad Hatter whenever I put on these white stockings! But it’s also just the perfect outfit for warmer Winter days.

I loved shooting in this garden too. It’s like a small oasis, found in the middle of an area surrounded by traffic and construction. The moment you step inside all that stuff seems to drift away. The bench under the archway is always beautiful in spring too. I used to go there with my high school boyfriend and drink slurpees under the flowers. Such a romantic back then! Haha.
